Stress, we all experience it. We live busy lives filled with things to do, places to be, things to organize and so on.
A little bit of stress is OK, think the flight/fright response. However when we have too much stress it can affect all aspects of our lives.
Yelling at the kids, feeling depressed, fatigue, overeating, aches and pains, anxiety, feeling unhappy in relationships and illness can all be results of being over stressed.
For me too much stress leads to fatigue and feeling irritated and overwhelmed by the smallest upset.
Lately I have started to become more aware to my signals that I am becoming over stressed. I think this really helps me to identify what I am feeling and helps me at reducing the stress.
My Personal Tips on Reducing Stress
Taking some time for myself is a great way for me to reduce stress. I like walking or exercise as it always clears my head and stops the monkey chatter. Cooking also helps me to DE-stress. I love cooking so doing something I love to do and am passionate about helps me feel relaxed. Meditation is also great for clearing my thoughts again sorting out the monkey chatter. Having a massage also helps me as it is time for myself. I can relax and massage does calm the nervous system and slows down your heart rate.
Next time you are feeling over stressed try these 5 ideas:
- Go for a walk , even if it is just in the backyard
- Find time to do something you enjoy
- Have a massage. (Do something for yourself)
